Had a fun, but exhaustive weekend...
I spent Saturday with some of current teammates and also my former team playing in TCS&SC's floor hockey tournament. Unlike the last one we played in October, this time we wisely took on a couple extra bodies. In our first tournament, we thought since the games were only 30 minutes long, we didn't need a big team. We came out all energized for our first game, but by the 4th and 5th games rolled around, we were totally zapped!
Anyway, our extra subs this time around definitely helped.--we probably outhustled a couple of teams 'cause we had much more energy. Incredibly, despite our best efforts, we somehow managed only 1 win and 3 ties. Still, that was good enough to make it to the semi-finals. In the semis, Janice scored 2 great goals to push us on to the finals--goalies are usually stunned when they figure out she can hit wristshots into the corner. :) Unfortunately, we came up just a bit short in the finals, losing 3-2. It was a bitter defeat 'cause we lost to a pretty obnoxious team and it would have been nice to shut them up... hehe... oh well... still a great time had by all. I'm looking forward to doing it again!
Also got a chance to watch the Slam Dunk Contest at Andy's with Gaston, Kev and Steve later that night. It was actually pretty boring--especially watching Chris Andersen make what seemed like a 1000 attempts at a dunk. It was pretty funny at first, but then it just got pretty sad for the poor white boy. Anyway, my favourite dunk of the night had to be Steve Nash's header alley-oop to Amaré Stoudemire--one of the most creative ones I've ever seen.
Anyway, I ended up passing out at Andy's for a few hours 'cause I was totally wiped--the pizza and beer (to celebrate Andy's birthday) probably didn't help either. I also wisely stayed away from Jose Cuervo's tequila, which Jimmy brought over later on. Funny thing was that they couldn't find shot glasses, so they just drank out of jars.
Today (Sunday) was a total write-off as my back and ankles was pretty sore. I ended up missing church and sleeping much of the day. Ugh.
